TAYLOR

E. LAWRENCE "LARRY", age 76, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at home in Shannondell At Valley Forge after a prolonged illness.
Born May 30, 1935, Larry grew up in Philadelphia with his parents, Charles and Mollie Taylor and older brother Bob. He graduated from Olney High School and then went on to earn a BS in Marketing from Temple University. He served in the US Army and was also a Freemason and member of the LuLu Shriners.
He owned and operated the family business, Taylor's Furniture and Appliances on Kensington Ave. and founded a civic and social group, K&A for local business owners. He spent a few years working at the Philadelphia Inquirer in sales specializing in mobile and pre-fabricated housing.
Larry then spent many years in the travel industry owning Let's Travel Agency with his wife Maxine and serving as a sales representative to a few cruise lines. A lover of travel and dining, Larry spent a lot of time planning his next trip or trying out a new restaurant. He visited over 12 countries and particularly loved cruises which he continued to enjoy the past few years. He passed that "travel bug" onto his children as all three daughters also travel extensively for both business and pleasure. Larry also enjoyed the theatre and the Philly Pops. In 2009 he wrote and produced a comedy show at Shannondell, which was a huge success.
A very social guy, most people in his life would say that he introduced them to something.. a new friend, a new food, or a new experience. He was always on the go... to the movies, to dinner, to his daughters' houses for a visit.
Larry was a great friend, a great father, a loved pop-pop and loving husband with a wonderful sense of humor, even in the most difficult of circumstances. He will be missed by all but his humor and passion for living will live on in all that knew him, especially his daughters and grand-children.
He is predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Maxine Taylor. He is survived by his daughters Ellyn Levin, Judi McLaughlin (John), Caryn Taylor Lucia (Rich) and his five grand-children, Mirella, Steven, Ally, Bryn and Lilli.
