Dr. Richard L. Gordon, a distinguished hematologist oncologist renowned for his warm and gentle demeanor, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 27, 2026. Born on August 31, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Gordon dedicated his life to the medical profession, offering compassionate care that touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues alike. He was truly a very special human being, making everyone he met feel remarkable in their own right.
Dr. Gordon’s illustrious career in hematology and oncology not only showcased his professional expertise but also reflected his deeply ingrained commitment to patient-centered care. His empathetic approach and ability to connect with individuals on a personal level were hallmarks of his practice, gaining him an enduring respect within the medical community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jamie Gordon, and his loving sons, E. and Aaron. He also leaves behind Evan's wife, Jacqueline, and their four daughters-Scarlett, Amelia, Naomi, and Vienna—who were truly his pride and joy.
He is further survived by his brother, Robert, and his partner, Mary Ann Bryant, as well as his sisters, Linda Blier and her husband Al, and Lisa Duncan and her husband Robert.
Richard's world revolved around his wife Jamie, who was the love of his life and their marriage was an inspiration to all that knew them.
Dr. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Hilda Gordon (née Paski), whose legacy lived on through his values and dedication.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Dr. Richard L. Gordon will be held at Platt Memorial Chapels, located at 2001 Haddonfield Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08003. Relatives and friends are invited Thursday, April 30, 2026, beginning at 1:15pm. Funeral services will begin promptly at 2:00pm. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ
Throughout his life, Dr. Gordon’s warmth and kindness left an indelible imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His professional contributions and personal compassion will continue to inspire those in the medical field and beyond.
