Dr. Jerrold (Jerry) M Snyder passed away on September 25, 2025. He was born in Philadelphia to Dr. Sidney and Sylvia (née Nerenberg) Snyder on the day his father opened his first medical practice.
Jerry celebrated his Bar Mitzvah at Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park and graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia (Class 229). He continued his education at Temple University (Class of 1974), where he volunteered as the Temple Owl mascot. He earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1978, completed his internship at Metropolitan Hospital, and finished his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UMDNJ-Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford, New Jersey, where he was Chief Resident from 1982 to 1983.
Jerry began practicing medicine in New Jersey before establishing a long, distinguished career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol, Pennsylvania. In 1986, he co-founded Women’s Specialists of Bucks County with Dr. Rick Turner. He served as Chief of OBGYN at St. Mary’s for four years and later concluded his career with Capital Health in Pennington, New Jersey. Over his career, he delivered over 4,000 babies.
He will be remembered as a physician deeply dedicated to his patients and as a man who lived with optimism and joy. Jerry saw the best in everyone, held others to high standards, and uplifted those around him. He cherished time with his family and his love of the water, music, travel, and good food. He also maintained a deep passion for learning and a strong faith. Jerry loved to laugh—his sense of humor was one of his best qualities. He truly lived every day to the fullest.
To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as Gampy. Above all, he loved being a husband, father, and grandfather.
Jerry wanted everyone to know, “All I ever wanted was to be a mensch. If people can say I was a mensch, then I lived a good life.”
Beloved husband of Lorri (nee Hopkins); Loving father of Kaitlin Howard (Ben) and Max Snyder; Dear Brother of Barbara Brandoff (Neal), Steven Snyder (Bonnie), Bonnie Snyder-Rothman (the late Leonard), and Alan Snyder (Meryl); Adoring grandfather of Maisie, Sadie, and Ellis.
