Dr. Harold P. Koller, passed away on September 4, 2026. Husband of the late Dorris "Cookie" Koller (nee Hoffman). Father of Melissa Koller (Steven Sweig), David (Julie) Koller, Esq., Harlan Koller, Brock (Gillian) Koller and the late Ilana Tori Koller. Zayde of Sarah and Jonah Koller and Amelia Koller. Brother of Charlene Koller and the late Irwin Koller.

Harold was born and raised in Northeast Philly, coming from modest means. He graduated from Central High School and was a true academician. Hard work and grit led him to attend the University of Pennsylvania to study zoology. He graduated from Penn in 1959. He then went to Tulane Medical School.  He married a beautiful woman from Brooklyn known as Cookie.

He was a trailblazing pioneer as a pediatric ophthalmologist. Whenever we were out, he was treated like a celebrity—always being stopped by moms, dads, and grandparents who would tell him and us how much he had helped their babies see. We've heard so many stories about what a tremendous doctor he was. Everyone went to Dr. Koller.

He established truly innovative surgical procedures for premature infants and babies some 50 years ago. He had incredibly loyal patients who came to see him from around the world. He was a skilled surgeon - a leader and expert in medicine. Work was his passion. His dedication and mastery of his craft was remarkable that inspired us and countless others.

Harold was so accomplished but more impressive is that he was soft-spoken, gentle, kind, and unpretentious- traits we strive to cultivate and desire to model for our children. He modeled how to be the best in your field: work hard, show up, remain a dedicated student as well as teacher, stay open to creative solutions and different perspectives, be courageous, be thoughtful, and always look for a way to help. Dr. Koller was a wonderful doctor to so many children for over six decades, and he was a great dad. He was an old fashioned gentleman. He has always been an inspiration to us as a father and as a professional, and will continue to inspire all of us in the future. 

Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10 AM precisely at Shalom Memorial Park (sec. Woodland Estates), 3573 Pine Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. 

Shiva will be observed at the home of Julie & David Koller: Tuesday following interment until 9 PM, and Wednesday and Thursday 3 PM to 9 PM.
