Donald Barry Stamm passed away on February 8, 2026. Born in Philadelphia on May 4, 1937, to Jacob and Eva Stamm, he graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1955. After a stint in the Army and Army Reserves, Don attended the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising and Journalism before spending 40 years in advertising sales at the Philadelphia Dailly News. Known for his stylish wardrobe, “Dapper Don” participated in the newspaper’s talent show to impress the audience with his uncanny impressions of the likes of Bert Lancaster, James Garfield, and James Cagney.
Don was the beloved uncle of Sonia Stamm (Earl Sissell), great uncle of Elena and Margot, and sister-in-law of Miriam Stamm (Martin). He also is remembered by treasured friends, cousins, and the staff of select diners in Northeast Philly.
Over recent years, Don tirelessly advocated for recognition of Al Schmid’s childhood home. Thanks to his efforts, the homestead of Al Schmid, whose biography was featured in Pride of the Marines, now bears a memorial plaque. For many years, Don also worked faithfully as a poll watcher for numerous local elections.
Don was a lifelong lover of animals, especially cats including his beloved, Poppy, Panther, and Snow. Don’s personal collection of artistic finds featured a variety of nutcrackers, based on his love of the holiday classic by Tchaikovsky. While he enjoyed a wide range of music, his favorite vocalist was Philadelphia native, Mario Lanza, who starred in the classic, Because You’re Mine.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, at 1:30 PM precisely at Roosevelt Memorial Park, 2701 Old Lincoln Highway, Trevose, PA 19053.
