DONALD HEIMAN

HEIMAN DR. DONALD F. 94, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he graduated with the 181st class from Central High School and entered the University of Pennsylvania. His college career was interrupted by Army service during WWII, during which he was stationed in the Philippines. After the war, Donald returned to Penn to complete his undergraduate education, then continued on to study medicine, specializing in cardiology. He spent most of his medical practice at Germantown Hospital, Philadelphia, and finished his career at the VA Hospital in Christiana, Delaware. Donald was an avid hiker, spending considerable time traversing the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire in addition to hiking the Alps in Europe. He was a lover of languages and in retirement a proud member of the Union League in Philadelphia. He leaves his daughter, Lisa (Clarke) Fowler; daughter Deborah (Brad) Dick; son Robert (Sharon Fitch) Heiman; and seven grandchildren: Nate Fowler; Matt, Julia, and Zachary Dick; and Alex, David, and Andrew Heiman. A Graveside Funeral with Military Honors will be held on June 3rd, 2021, at 1:30 P.M. at Washington Crossing Cemetery, in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania.
