Dolores (Dee) Rodos (nee Goodman), Beloved Teacher, Mother and Wife, Dies at 81
Dee, a devoted educator who taught both Special and General Education students for over 30 years, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of 54 years to Stephen Rodos. Dee is survived by her sons Michael (Sheila) & Jeffrey (Dawn) and sister Lynne Walters. Dee was the proud “mom-mom” to grandchildren Eric and Kaitlin.
Born on April 3, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dee grew up in the city's Olney neighborhood. She earned a Master's degree in Education from Antioch College and her undergraduate degree from Temple University. Dee dedicated her career to helping children. Dee worked at several schools in the Philadelphia School District, including Rhodes Middle School, Wister Elementary and Decatur Elementary. As a patient and caring teacher, she made a positive impact on countless children's lives over her 3 decades in the classroom and won several awards for her teaching.
Dee met her husband Steve in March of 1969, and after a whirlwind romance, decided to get married August 17th, 1969, despite the decades-too-late suggestion by their children that they should have attended the Woodstock music festival that weekend instead.
Later in life, Dee realized that one of her great joys was singing and acting in shows. She shared her talents at religious services, community events, and gatherings over the years.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her generous spirit, beaming smile, and lifelong commitment to educating young minds. May she rest in eternal peace.
