Beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished family matriarch, Diane Sovel passed away peacefully at home on Thursday morning, July 9, 2026, at the age of 95. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she spent most of her life in Philadelphia before moving to St. Augustine, Florida, in November 2025 to live with her son.

A proud graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls, Diane treasured the lifelong friendships she made there. The grand dame of her family, she was the keeper of its history, lovingly preserving the stories and memories that connected five generations. She valued excellence, bringing persistence, meticulous attention to detail, and exacting standards to everything she did.

Diane was predeceased by her parents, Rose and Lewis Sovel and her brother, Charles ("Chuck") Sovel. She is survived by her children, Mira and David Rubin; and her grandsons, Benjamin and Michael Rubin.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Montefiore Cemetery, 600 Church Road, Jenkintown, PA.
