It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, David Aaron Zisman. David leaves behind his wife, Rhonda, his brother Larry, daughters Robyn Stone (David) and Amy Gold (Michael), and grandchildren Toby Kashket and Emily Gold.
David was born on May 17th, 1938, to Boris and Esther Zisman (nee Laibow). David grew up in Atlantic City, and graduated from Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hills, PA.
David attended Temple University and graduated in 1960 with a BA in Accounting. On September 18th, 1960, he married Rhonda Horvitz of Levittown PA. Roni and David had met years before at a USY dance and dated on and off for a few years until they decided to make it permanent.
Once married, David and Roni moved to Chicago where David had received a scholarship to attend the University of Chicago, where he earned an MBA. The next stop for David was the US Army, where he served as a First Lieutenant in the Ordinance Corp. He was stationed in the US, Germany, and France. Roni accompanied him during this time, and they enjoyed having the opportunity to live in Europe and to travel during their downtime.
David came back to the US, where he began life as a practicing CPA in New York City for Arthur Young and Co., one of the “Big Eight” accounting firms. During this time, David and Roni lived in Riverdale in the Bronx, and in 1966 they welcomed their first child, Robyn Rachel. David and Roni moved back to Roni’s hometown of Philadelphia in 1967, and welcomed their second child, Amy Gail, in 1968.
David spent many years working for AY&CO and had the chance to work for them in Pittsburgh PA and Portland ME. He and the family moved to both of those cities, giving them the opportunity to make new friends and have new experiences, along with new sports fandoms (go Steelers!)
David and Roni relocated to Boston and David took a new role with a large regional accounting firm, Tofias, Fleishman, and Shapiro. When Amy graduated high school in 1986, they officially became empty nesters.
David finally settled into retirement when he and Roni started living an almost bi-coastal life, living part of the year in Westchester County NY and part in Las Vegas, NV.
In 2022, David and Roni relocated to an independent living community in Ashburn, VA, close to their daughter Amy. David enjoyed living there and participating in the active Jewish community.
David passed away on Saturday June 1 after a brief illness. David will be interred at Montefiore Cemetery in Jenkintown PA. There will be a small family service and the family will sit shiva in their respective homes in NY and Virigina the next day.
