David Hays Solis IV

David Hays Solis IV, passed peacefully on 2/20/2025 at the age of 97. Even into his 50's, his contemporaries and elders would call him "Sonny." A graduate of Cheltenham High School, he enlisted on his 18th birthday and served almost 2 years in the Navy. Scheduled to be parachuted onto a Japanese-held island as a "spotter", he was spared this due to the ending of the war. He was always proud of his military service. A top notch tennis player, he was once ranked #2 in the Philadelphia area and was a 10-time singles champion at Philmont Country Club. A lifetime member of The Sons of the Revolution, he was also a loyal former Kennebec camper. An amateur pianist/musician, he interned one summer for Jimmy Durante at the Concord and helped write songs for his radio show. After graduating Lehigh University, he had a long career in business, first working for the family business, Stern and Co. After a stint as an accountant at Atlantic Metals, he then became a CPA and started his own accounting firm which eventually became Solis, Ludin, Eckert and Fullam. He loved accounting and worked into his eighties, but he always found time to take long worldwide trips with his family. His family is thrilled that he was able to see his beloved Eagles win the Superbowl again.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy Jean Goldstein and survived by his 4 sons, David Hays Solis V, Jon Andrew Solis, Scott Brett Solis, and Robert Carl Elfont. He leaves 7 grandsons and 4 great-grandchildren. His final years were made much happier due to the companionship of Reeta Goodman. A special thanks is given to all his caregivers at Rydal Park, Abington Hospital, Echo Hospice as well as to his many physicians, nurses and dentists who gave him outstanding care.
