Obituary

Daniel Frank Soufer passed away on June 30, 2026 at the age of 85, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a life marked by devotion, quiet strength, and enduring kindness.

Dan was the beloved husband of Phyllis Lea Soufer (nee Kirsch), who predeceased him. During their 56 years of marriage, they built a partnership grounded in loyalty, laughter, and steadfast support. Their life together was the anchor of Dan’s world, and his devotion to Phyllis remained constant throughout his life. His love for Phyllis remained a guiding force even after her passing.

Born to Max and Dora (nee Segal) Soufer, Dan was the cherished brother of Marilyn.

He was a proud and devoted father to Larry (Laura) Bien of Gainesville, VA; Michael (Tisa) Bien of West Chester, PA; and Lisa Bien of Ventnor, NJ. Nothing brought him greater pride than the accomplishments and character of his children.

Dan was a loving grandfather to Stephen (Emily) Bien of Leesburg, VA; Lauren Garletts of Harrisonburg, VA; Kolbe (Greta) Bien of Boston, MA; Mateo Bien of West Chester, PA; Jacob (Eliza) Hogan of Holladay, UT; and Ari Miller of Ventnor, NJ. He was also blessed with great‑grandchildren: Henry, Oliver, Alice, and Sam of Leesburg, VA, and Kaiser Garletts of Harrisonburg, VA.

A lifelong lover of history and an avid reader, Dan found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an excellent cook who delighted in preparing meals for those he loved. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy!, loved a good card game, and was always happy to spend an afternoon watching baseball.

Most of all, Dan cherished gathering around the dinner table with family and friends, where good food, conversation, and laughter were always on the menu.

His memory will live on in the stories, traditions, and love he leaves behind.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Sunday July 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Roosevelt Memorial Park in Trevose, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Alzheimer's Association .
