95 years old, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2017 at his residence, The Hill at Whitemarsh in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of late Lenora J. Goldman (nee Gorsen) his wife of 65 years. Dan is also survived by his daughter Lissa Politz (the late Lenny) and his son Jeffrey S. Goldman (Maxine). He was the grandfather of Jennie Dinenberg (David), Elizabeth "Lizzie" Murphy (Brendan) and Michael P. Goldman (Kelly) and great grandfather to Max Dinenberg, Ben Dinenberg and Nate Goldman. Dan was born in Richmond, Virginia on December 23rd, 1921 but resided most of his life in Philadelphia where he attended Overbrook High School and graduated in 1943 from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. During World War II, Dan served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Force and was stationed at the US airbase in Foggia, Italy. As a navigator on "The Liberty Belle", a B-17-G bomber in the 32nd Squadron of the 301st Bomb Group, Dan flew 26 missions over Europe from December 6th, 1944 to April 25th, 1945 earning numerous air combat medals. After the war along with his cousin and partner of nearly 70 years, Fred Rosenstein, Dan assumed a leadership role in his family's textile and chemical application business begun in 1901 by his grandfather Jacob Levy, an inventor and entrepreneur who emigrated from Austria before the turn of the century. As chief technical officer for the company, Dan was instrumental in expanding the business during the 1950s through the 1980s, from the treatment of apparel fabrics into the application of specialized coatings, fire-retardants, stain, water and soil repellants for home furnishing, seating, transportation, medical and roofing fabrics. A number of patents covering the formation of specialized textile webs are still held in his name. The original family company now called TSG Finishing LLC, continues successfully to this day operated by its 5th generation descendant with plants located in North Wales, PA, Hickory, Longview and Conover, NC. Interment and a Graveside Service were held at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Trevose, PA at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday March 5th.
