CYNTHIA F. "CINDY" on February 10, 2016, at age 62, of complications from pancreatic cancer. Beloved wife of Daniel Biddle. Devoted mother of Ellery Roberts Biddle and the late Jake Roberts Biddle. Dear sister of Brian Roberts and Clark Roberts. Born in Dayton and raised in New Lebanon, Ohio, Cindy graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 1976 and worked as a reporter and editor for the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram in Ohio, the Miami (Fl.) News and the Associated Press. Her years at the AP included postings in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, South Jersey and San Francisco. A resident of West Philadelphia since 1985, Cindy was a dedicated community volunteer and leader. She served as president of the Spruce Hill Community Association and of the Friends of Clark Park, where she helped drive revitalization efforts in the late 1990s. She co-founded Parents Express, a monthly newspaper for parents in the Philadelphia region with fellow editor and publisher Sharon Sexton. She went on to earn a master's degree in public policy from the Rutgers Blaustein School and then served as executive director of the Parent-Infant Center in West Philadelphia, where she was a tireless advocate for public funding for early childhood education. She was also a lifelong student of Italian culture, language and cuisine. A Memorial Service is planned for 2 P.M. Saturday Feb. 27 at the Arch Street Friends Meetinghouse, 320 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. The family asks that donations in Ms. Roberts' memory be made to fund pre-K slots for disadvantaged children at the Parent-Infant Center, 4205 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
