Cindy Berenbaum was born in West Philadelphia in 1939 to Edward and Fanny Fishbein. She attended Lincoln High School before attending college at Temple University.

After Temple, she worked at General Electric until meeting her husband, Stanley Berenbaum, marrying in April of 1961 and starting a family. She had three sons, Michael, Jeffrey and David – all of whom she could brag about for days on end. And often, she would. If you ever met her, you know this. Her husband Stanley passed in 1979 and she raised her boys as a single mother with the loving, unlimited help of her sister Sharon and her parents. She often juggled multiple jobs in order to make ends meet. But she always made it look easy. Her children were never in want of anything. Her boys were her world.

She then was thrilled to welcome their wives -- Fern, Greta and Stephanie -- into her life. And luckily for them, she was never short of advice to give them.

And then came her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was blessed with eight grandchildren – Christina, Alexandra, Gabriel, Ethan, Joshua, Zachary, Noah and Andrew. And four great-grandchildren -- Sadie, Roxie, Addie and Josie. She could also brag about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for days on end. If you ever met her, you know this. She was so very proud of all of them. They were her joy.

She was vivacious and she was warm. She was a force. A singular fire. A fighter and fierce protector of her family. And there will never be another like her. She was truly an original.

Donations in her name can be made to “The Smile Train”, “The American Heart Association” or “The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research”.
