Charlotte Thurschwell

Charlotte Thurschwell, aged 93, of The Quadrangle, Haverford, a retired lawyer and long time Wynnewood resident died on July 21, 2025. Born in Philadelphia she attended Girls High and was a graduate of the University of Chicago. Charlotte (often Char) married a fellow graduate, Hugh Thurschwell in 1956. Prior to their marriage Char had taught first grade in the old Narberth School. After their marriage and move to New York, Char taught in the Scarsdale School System. A move back to Ardmore in the activist 60s’s led to her participation with anti-war groups, as well as groups involved in equal rights for women and minorities, including the marches on Washington. In 1977 at the age of 45, Char graduated from Villanova Law School and practiced family law in her Haverford office until her retirement in 1994. Following her retirement, Char returned to an interest in painting; her works appeared in many professional shows over a period of 20 years. She and husband took yearly trips to England where the landscape served as a source of inspiration for many of her paintings. For many years Char was president of the Board of ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth. She is survived by three children, Eric, Adam and Pam and four grandchildren, Walter, Sophie, Max and Katya. Relatives and friends are invited to shiva at The Quadrangle, 3300 Darby Rd, Haverford, PA 19041, on Saturday, July 26 (from 5:00 to 7:00 PM). Graveside services are being held on Thursday, 1 PM precisely at Montefiore Cemetery (sec. 7), Jenkintown, PA.
