Charlotte Miller

Charlotte Miller, 73, passed away surrounded by her family. Born on November 5, 1952, in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Charlotte spent her childhood in Upper Darby, where she delighted in playing in the storefront window of her father’s hardware store. Even from a young age, she had a curious and artistic spirit, with a special love for her pet turtle, rocks, and gems.

Charlotte graduated from Upper Darby High School, where she was known for her operatic soprano singing voice. She went on to pursue her passion for music at the Academy of Music, earning a degree in voice, and later received a master’s degree in special education from Cheyney University.

In addition to music, teaching was another one of Charlotte’s greatest passions. Over the years, she shared her gifts by teaching private piano and voice lessons, teaching Sunday school classes at local synagogues, and working full time as a special needs high school teacher. Her humor, patience, and creativity left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.

After a serious car accident and several back surgeries cut her career short, Charlotte devoted herself to the people and animals she loved most. She found joy in caring for her beloved pets and spending time with her family and friends, especially her granddaughter, Grace, who became the newest and brightest love of her life.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Julie Berger Cummings; her son, Phillip Berger; her son-in-law, Victor Cummings; her brother, Carl Miller; and her cherished granddaughter, Grace Cummings. She is also survived by her beloved pets, cats “Simon Sox” and “Sadie Lady”, and her bearded dragon, Sunset.

She will be remembered for her deep love of animals, her remarkable eye for beautiful jewelry, and the unforgettable sound of her operatic singing voice. Her talent, humor, and resilience will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
