Carolyn Segal (née Cohen), born August 2, 1942, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Carolyn was the beloved wife of the late Gerald S. “Jerry” Segal and the wholehearted, loving mother of Traci (Steve) Ernst. She was a deeply devoted Mommom to her grandchildren, Zac (John), Jake (Sam), Allie, and Lily, who were among the greatest joys of her life. She is survived by her sister, Rosalind Cortney, and was also a caring sister to the late Zelda Greenberg. Last year, she was blessed beyond measure to see another dream fulfilled when she became a Great-Mommom to Brooke.

Carolyn met Jerry when she was just 14 years old, beginning a love story and partnership that would span a lifetime. Through all of life’s joys and challenges, she remained steadfastly by his side, truly embracing “for better or worse, in sickness and in health,” and remaining devoted to him and to their family. After 57 years of loving marriage, Jerry passed away, but his spirit remained alive in Carolyn as she worked with her family to continue The Jerry Segal Classic in his memory, which has raised more than $23 million in support of Magee.

Carolyn fondly remembered the travels her family embarked on together, from spending winters in Boca Raton to visiting historic landmarks in Italy and Greece and walking on a glacier in Alaska. In the weeks before her passing, Carolyn enjoyed going through photo albums with her grandchildren, ensuring that the funny stories and wonderful memories she was fortunate enough to make throughout her lifetime would be with the family for generations to come. She also passed on her appreciation for music, shared her tricks on the slot machines, recommended her favorite books, and made sure her family knew that everything is better if it comes in pink. She will be remembered for her loyalty, strength, generosity, and, above all, her extraordinary devotion to her family.

The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 16, at 12:00 p.m. at Montefiore Cemetery, 600 Church Road, Jenkintown, PA 19046. Following the service, the family will welcome guests at Carolyn’s home in Blue Bell.
