Beverly Mendicino

Beverly R. Mendicino, MD (nee Grossfeld)

July 16, 1945 – Dec. 10, 2024

Beverly, age 79, passed away peacefully with her sons at her side at home in Gladwyne, PA on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024 after a battle with cancer. The daughter of Charles and Jean Grossfeld, Beverly grew up in the Bronx with her older brothers Michael and Victor, where she excelled in her studies and earned her medical degree from Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania.

Beverly married Karl Roth in 1967 and gave birth to two sons Chris Roth and Marc Roth. She deftly balanced the demands of working full-time as a psychiatrist while raising her two boys with much love, fun, and generosity. She remarried in 1987 to Sam Mendicino and the two embarked on decades of shared travel and adventure. Beverly and Sam shared their good fortune with family and friends on many skiing and sailing trips abroad until Sam’s death in 2023. Beverly was a quiet but fierce advocate for her family with a strong sense of justice and much compassion for the vulnerable and those who were less fortunate.

In addition to her sons Chris and Marc, Beverly was the beloved mother-in-law to Stephanie Roth and Bee Shuman, stepmother of Robert (Lisa) Mendicino, Elizabeth (James) Forsyth and the late James Mendicino, grandmother of Ezra Shuman-Roth and Rosa Shuman-Roth, Ashley (Ricardo) Pereria, Samantha (Robert) Stedeford, and Robert James Mendicino, and step-grandmother of Amanda Marino (Emily Erdman) and Angela (Jason) Hughes, great grandmother of Jack and Joseph Hughes, Myles Stedeford, Rocco Pereria. She was also the aunt of Rachel Grossfeld, who cared for her in her final weeks.

Relatives and friends are invited to Memorial Services Sunday 11 a.m. precisely at Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Funeral Directors Conshohocken, 516 Fayette St., Conshohocken, PA 19428, followed by an informal Open House Shiva at her late residence. Contributions in her memory may be made to Best Friends animal rescue organization.
