Beverly Bennett Green, beloved wife, mother, grandmother/Baba, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the age of 82.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Green, and her son, Mark Green. She is survived by her daughter, Kerry Rosenthal, and son-in-law, Jay Rosenthal; granddaughters Hannah Green, Elizabeth (Libby) Green, and Samantha Robinson; grandson Jacob Robinson; sister Carolyn Bennett; and niece Ana Kramer.
Beverly grew up in the Catskills in Narrowsburg, New York. She graduated from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Psychoeducational Processes from Temple University and a Master’s degree in English from Beaver College.
For nearly 40 years, Beverly was a cherished member of the Abington Friends School community, where she taught writing with passion, creativity, and care. Her students adored her, as she inspired generations to find their voices and express themselves with honesty and clarity. Beverly loved her work, her students, her colleagues, and the values of Quakerism so deeply that she eventually became a Quaker herself—a decision that brought her great joy and peace.
Outside the classroom, Beverly found happiness at her home in Twin Lakes, where she was affectionately known as “Lake Lady.” She took great pride in ceremoniously taking her first swim of the year each Memorial Day—no matter how cold the water—and spent countless summer days swimming the perimeter of the lake, slow and steady, finding calm and strength in its quiet beauty.
Beverly also loved metaphors and, in her later years, developed a fondness for collecting items featuring dragonflies—unknowingly creating a personal, fitting metaphor. On her refrigerator, she displayed a magnet reading: “Dragonflies are a sign sent from above to show we are cared for and always loved. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.”
Beverly was loved deeply by her family and friends and will be remembered for her warmth, wit, insight, and unwavering spirit. She will be profoundly missed.
A memorial meeting will be held at the Abington Friends Meetinghouse, 520 Meetinghouse Rd, Jenkintown, PA 19046 on Thursday November 6, 2025, at 11:00AM precisely.
If so inclined, donations in Beverly’s memory may be made to the Abington Monthly Meeting or to the NCCN Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), dedicated to advancing cancer care and improving patients’ lives.
