Betty Kaplan

Betty Kaplan, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 16, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on August 4, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Betty was a proud graduate of South Philadelphia High School. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Zeitz.

Her life was enriched by a remarkable love story that began when she was just 17 years old. During World War II, Betty began corresponding with Albert Kaplan, who was serving as a Technical Sergeant and radio operator in Germany and France. Their letters blossomed into a deep romantic connection, leading to their marriage shortly after Albert's return home from the war in September.

Betty's vibrant spirit was exemplified by her love for the color blue and butterflies, reflecting her joyful nature. She loved shopping and was a "true shopaholic"  She is survived by her loving family, including her daughter Nonnie (Jeff) Wiernik and her son Richard (Wendy) Kaplan. Betty took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Craig Wiernik, Jason Wiernik, Cara (Eric) McCoach, and Andrew Kaplan. The joy of her life expanded as she became a great-grandmother to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Brooke McCoach.

A graveside service will be held at King David Memorial Park in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, on February 19, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
