Bernice Segal

April 7, 1925 — February 5, 2026

Bernice Segal passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2026, at the age of 100. She would have been 101 on April 7th. Bernice was married to the love of her life, Jack, for a few days shy of 71 years. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 94. Until that day, they were inseparable. Besides being a devoted wife to Jack, she was the best mother ever to Rhonda (Albo) and Ilene (John) and never treated their husbands like a son-in-law – to her they were her sons. She is also survived by her brother Phil and his wife Joan, who also was like a sister. Among her greatest joys were her grandchildren: Gary (Beth), Sam (Marcalino), Billy (Daniela), and Katie (Alex). She felt so blessed and lucky to also have three great-grandchildren: Alex, Jackson, and Bailey. She was also cherished by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, especially her most recent friends in her apartment complex at PPH where she lived independently until her passing. She was pre-deceased by her sister Peppy, and brother Jerry, both of whom she adored.

Bernice was a secretary at George Washington High School for 25 years and was an active volunteer at City of Hope. She also volunteered at the PPH gift shop for many years and made many friends while working there.

She will be remembered for her giant smile (with or without her teeth!), ever-present pink and white hat, and her kindness, generosity, and never-ending thoughtfulness. She always prayed for everyone’s well-being and always thought of others before herself. She kept Hallmark in business with the cards she sent to us for every occasion (and even sent one just a week before she left us). She loved Hershey bars, Lorna Doones, Tastykakes, and movies. She spent hours every day watching her black and white favorites on Turner Classic Movies and could tell you the name of every actor and actress – even the ones with small parts.

But her greatest love was her family and friends; nothing gave her more joy than spending time with them. She also had a wonderful way of making everyone laugh—again and again—without ever trying.

One of her nieces said recently: “Bernice was like a smile that somehow became a whole human being.” How lucky we all were to have this amazing human being in our lives." We will miss her terribly. She is irreplaceable.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Bernice’s life on Sunday, February 8th at Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Funeral Home, 310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, PA at 11:30am. (Please arrive a little earlier for hugs to the family.) Please dress for the weather – not a funeral. Be warm and be comfortable; it’s going to be very cold. For those unable to attend, a livestream of the service is available here.

Following the service, internment will be at King David Memorial Park, 3594 Bristol Road, Bensalem, PA 19020. Shiva will be held following internment at the home of Ellen and Len Pons, 8809 Blue Grass Road, Philadelphia, PA 19152. Friends and family are invited to share their stories and memories over lunch, and are welcome to visit through the remainder of the day. As many of you know, Ellen considered Bernice to be her second mom and Bernice always referred to Ellen as her third daughter. ❤️
