Bernice Feldman, née Yanofsky, passed away on June 12, 2026. Born August 9th, 1925, Bernice celebrated her centenary last August to great fanfare, surrounded by doting family and friends at a party profiled on the local news. The third of Bessie and Isadore Yanofsky’s four children, she grew up in West Philadelphia alongside elder brothers Al and Phil and little sister Gloria, with whom she always shared a special bond. Her warm and caring nature inspired the lifelong loyalty of a devoted network of girlfriends, through whom she met Manny Feldman, also of West Philly. After graduating proudly with honors from West Philadelphia High School, Bernice married Manny at the Broadmoor on Oct. 15, 1950, honeymooning at the Concord Resort in the Poconos.

After a brief stint as a homemaker, Bernice went to work as an assistant bookkeeper and administrator for a number of prominent Philadelphia companies while raising her two sons, Alan and Elliott. Family was everything to Bernice, and she was as devoted to the sprawling Feldman clan she married into as she was to her Yanofsky birth family. Even as her family grew by marriage and birth, she never forgot a birthday, and was beloved across generations. She delighted in being a grandmother to Jenna, Erica, Ben, Julia, and Gabrielle, and later a great-grandmother to Elyse, Hayden, Leyla, Noah, and Maya.

She is survived by her sons, Alan (m. Maureen Pelta), Elliott (m. Cindy Mogul); her sister, Gloria Levinson; and many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
