BEATRICE "BEA" RESHES, 91, Jewish Civic Leader of N.E. Phila. and Northampton MA, died peacefully at Loomis House in MA, on Saturday, July 11, 2009. Born Beatrice Blum in Washington DC to Reba Magarick Blum and Jack M. Blum, she graduated from Olney H.S. and worked in the Phila. Office of Dept. of Unemployment Compensation. There she met her beloved husband of 54 years, Emanuel J. "Manny" Reshes with whom she collaborated for many decades in leading fund raising efforts for the Liberty Chapter of American Red Magen David for Israel, Hadassah, the Esther Baum and Oxford Chapters of B'nai Brith Women, the Israeli Lodge of B'nai Brith Men, the Pannonia Beneficial Assoc., Parents of North American Israelis, the American Hebrew Society and many other philanthropic organizations. In MA, she supported the Springfield Jewish Federation, Jewish Family Service and Northampton-Amherst Hadassah. She was predeceased by her husband, Manny; her twin sister, Sylvia Davis and brother, Leonard Blum. She is survived by her daughters, Janet Fraidstern and Bobby Vendringer, their husbands, Leslie Fraidstern and Yacov Vendringer; sisters-in-law, Bernyce Cohen and Ruth Blum; grandsons, Josh, Daniel and Yoni; great grandchildren, Bernadette and Max; and many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services Wednesday, 1 P.M. precisely, GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL SACKS SUBURBAN NORTH, 310 Second St. Pike, Southampton. Int. Montefiore Cem. Family will return to the residence of Bernie and Selma Izes.
