Barry D. Sunshine

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry David Sunshine, who left us peacefully on November 29, 2025. Barry was born on March 22, 1944, in Philadelphia, to the late Eugene and Ruth (Stesis) Sunshine.

For much of his professional life, Barry was President of Sunshine Instruments, a large Mid- Atlantic electronics distributorship, and participated on boards and charities dedicated to education and Jewish life.

Barry was passionate and knowledgeable across a spectrum of interests, from politics to history, music to art and business. He was an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction books. Barry loved city life and spent much of his time, with family and close friends, in Philadelphia and New York City.

Barry is survived by his beloved wife, Elissa (Potter) Sunshine; his son, James (Lenci) Sunshine; a daughter, Dana (Alex) Moldovan; three step-sons, Tovia (Bracha), Matthew (Dianna) and Jed Factor; a brother, Dr. Jeffrey (Dr. Kathy) Sunshine; and nine grandchildren, Teddy, Evie, Abe, Sophie, Ariel, Shalom, Avigail, Rivkah Chaya, and Sarah Shifra who will carry forward his intellectual spirit and values of generosity, love of family, and Jewish tradition.
