BARRY STUPINE

Barry Stupine, 78, a resident of Rydal, PA, died on May 6, 2020. Dedicated to his family, he was the husband of Susan (Rosenberg) Stupine, father of Erika Yablonovitz (Seth) and Jeffrey Stupine (Farah), grandfather of Bailey and Molly Yablonovitz and Lilly Stupine and brother of Sharla Feldscher (Barry).

While Barry had many achievements, it was his willingness to help others that serves as a major part of his legacy. In all these roles Barry helped inspire, teach, and assist anyone who asked. Many people's lives and careers were shaped by Barry's wisdom, teachings and counsel. He was a role model to many especially his children.

Born in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia, Barry was a 1964 graduate of Temple University and a 1968 graduate of George Washington University in Health Care Administration. He served as Vice Dean for Administration and Finance and Director at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine and Penn's Ryan Veterinary Hospital for over 30 years. Known for his pet reports on KYW Newsradio, he is credited with helping to build the Vet School. Dr. Alan Kelly, former dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, said, "The School of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania owe Barry an enormous debt of gratitude for the innumerable ways he made Penn a better place. We all miss him and treasure his memory."

In addition to Penn, Barry was also a consultant to many organizations and institutions including Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Department of Health of the United States' Grant Review Board. Active in the community, he was President of the Abington School Board, Founding President of the Freire Charter School Foundation, Philadelphia, President of Old York Road Temple Beth Am and a board member of the Albert Einstein Society. He was involved in many non-profit organizations including PAWS, PSCPA and many others.

Barry's family was everything to him, including his granddog, Charlie. He was a very involved parent and grandparent, enjoying their passions and sharing his own with them. He always loved horses, passing that down to his children, and especially, his granddaughter Bailey. Music and theater were always important to Barry and his family, and now granddaughter Molly has followed in those footsteps. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.

Donations in honor of Barry can be made to Old York Temple Beth Am, 971 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001 or Albert Einstein Society, c/o Einstein Healthcare Network, 5501 Old York Road, Office of Development, Philadelphia, PA 19141.
