Barbara Jaffe Morgan, age 89, passed away peacefully at Attleboro Nursing Home, Langhorne, PA on Monday, December 21.
Barbara was born in the Bronx, NY to Ceil and David Jaffe. During the summer of 1951, Barbara met Chuck Morgan at a singles weekend in the Catskills, NY. Upon meeting her, he said "you will be my wife one day". She thought he was crazy. They married in 1952 and were happily married until his death in 1998.
Barbara worked at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center for 47 years until she was 87 years old. A remarkable accomplishment to say the least. Her colleagues adored her.
Barbara was an avid reader, Scrabble and Mah Jongg player. Until she was unable to do so, her crewel work and knitting were spectacular. She loved getting manicures and pedicures. But, her favorite thing to do was eat. Afternoons eating Chinese dim sum, fabulous meals with the family at Randazzo's in Brooklyn and eating a very rare steak that was falling off the plate, as she put it. Her chicken soup with matzah balls were the best. None of us have been able to duplicate it. She was sharp, funny and told it like it was.
The New York Yankees need a special mention. She would watch every game and listen to it on the radio at the same time. If Derek Jeter had asked her to marry him, she would have. She carried a picture of him in her wallet.
She will be deeply missed by her family - Daughters Lisa and Debbie and son in law Steve. Grandchildren Dana and her husband Matt, Ben, Leah and Emily. Her greatest joy was being blessed with two great grandchildren, Sammy and Clark.
The family would like to extend a well-deserved thank you to the staff at Attleboro Independent Living and Attleboro Nursing and Rehab. A very special thank you to Mary Kender, Executive Director at Attleboro Community. Her assistance, compassion and care went beyond her job description. Also, many thanks to the staff at Crossroads Hospice.
Due to Covid, a graveside service will be held Sunday, December 27 at 1:00pm at New Montefiore Cemetery, West Babylon, NY.
