Barbara S. Kleger

Barbara Sherr Kleger Dubroff of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026 following an aggressive, recently diagnosed cancer.

“Best mom ever” to Adam Kleger (Karen), Brett Kleger (Karen), and Donna Katzman (Marc), and “coolest Mom-Mom ever” to Skyler, Chase, Troy, Macy, Cole, Reeve, Riley, Maddie, and Emma. Doting wife of Allen Dubroff. Barbara was predeceased by her parents Irvin and Anna Sherr, brother Herb and sister Ruth.

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Barbara graduated from P.S.duPont High School and then Temple University's School of Business. Upon graduating she worked for the US General Accounting Office - where she was the only woman working alongside 114 men.

Barbara served the senior housing industry since 1978 when she began as the Vice President of a company that developed Continuing Care Retirement Communities. She spent the next 40+ years running her own business, specializing in strategic planning for the senior living industry. Barbara co-authored numerous courses for retirement communities and assisted living residences; was among the first in the country to be recognized as a Certified Active Adult Specialist in Housing from the National Association of Home Builders; and was a delegate to the White House Conference On Aging (WHCOA). Barbara received many distinguished service awards throughout her career, including the 2009 National “Icon of the Industry” award from the National Association of Home Builders.

Barbara's true passion, however, was spending time with her husband, children and their spouses, and her nine grandchildren. As "cool Mom-Mom", she loved to spend her time creating special experiences with her family, whether that be lasting memories at her apartment in Atlantic City, countless fantastic family vacations, to fabulous one-on-one escapades with each of her grandchildren. She tried to never miss any of her grandchildren's events -- spending as much time as possible at lacrosse, hockey, and basketball games, dance recitals and cheerleading competitions, marching band and horse shows, rowing and jewelry-making events.

A service to honor Barbara's beautiful life will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 1:30 PM; Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Funeral Directors Suburban North, located at 310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
