Arlene Epstein Ginsburg (age 92) died peacefully on December 23rd. For 74 years she was married to Stanley D. Ginsburg until his passing in 2023. Arlene and Stanley met when he took her to prom. He was 18 years old, she was just 16. Two years later they married and began a beautiful life full of success, love, friendship and family.
Arlene and Stanley have 3 children, Robert (Mitra), Carole (Richard) and Marc (Tracy), 8 grandchildren, Dana, Max, Gregory (Julie), Douglas (Julianne), Drew, Alexa (Adam), Sam (Jason), and Shelby, and 5 great grandchildren, Harlow, Story, Benji, Noa and Lilly. She loved being a grandmother and great grandmother, her family was her pride and joy.
The day before her passing, she attended a Hanukkah party surrounded by her entire family. Family equaled happiness to Arlene, and nothing made her happier than spending time together. From yearly holiday trips to family dinners and summers down the shore, she loved being surrounded by her children.
Arlene was truly one of a kind. She would do anything that was adventurous…wherever the wind took her and Stanley. She could be found on the back of his motorcycle or on the back deck of the Lady A. Their boat, which was affectionately named after her.
She was a pioneer for fashion, ahead of her time, opening a women’s clothing boutique ‘The Total Look’ in the early 70s. She would later go on to open ‘That Special Look’ in Bala Cynwyd, PA with her daughter Carole. She loved to consult with her customers and make them look and feel their best. Always dressed to the nines, Arlene usually sported something in her favorite color red.
Arlene felt education was the most important thing for future generations, making it a part of her philanthropy. She and Stanley provided scholarships to many IDF soldiers after their service. In the early 1980s together, they started the Ginsburg-Ingerman Overseas Students Program to enable American youths to attend Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Jewish philanthropy was very important to Arlene and Stanely, committing to Magen David Adam ambulances in Israel, Main Line Reform Temple and The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. Their generous philanthropy will be felt for years to come. Their children and grandchildren have learned the importance of philanthropy and will make it their mission now to fulfill their legacy.
The family requests donations be made in Arlene’s memory to Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), www.fidf.org, or the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s LiveSecure Campaign to protect our Jewish community and combat antisemitism.
