ANNA G. (nee Gangursky), died in the evening of February 21st, 2016, while listening to her favorite classical music at Barclay Friends in West Chester PA. She was 96 years old, beloved wife of the late Michael Press and daughter of the late Isadore and Fanny Gangursky (nee Cherwin). Anne was a beautiful, impressive woman to see, turning heads in her elegant attire topped off with one of her famous chapeaus. She was inspiring by her take-charge attitude, intelligence, completed by thoughtful kind-nesses to family and friends over many years. She resided at 1919 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia for almost 50 years. She was a partner with her husband in a successful interior design firm for 25 years.
She was truly a gourmet chef - dining at her table was a privilege along with trying out new restaurants in center city with her friends. Anne was a patron of the arts attending orchestra, ballet and theater. She was a volunteer in an organization for the blind. A lover of cats and dogs, she could never pass up the opportunity to pat one as she passed on the street.
Anne is survived by sisters Edna Tohancyn, Goldie Feldman, and brother David Gangursky and wife Arlene (nee Lazarow). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews that she loved dearly. She will remain a powerful, positive, influence on those who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services Wednesday, 1 PM precisely at Mt. Lebanon Cem. (Sec. 4), Collingdale, PA.
