Ann R. Schwartz (nee Muldawer), age 79, of Langhorne, died on August 8 after a year of health struggles following a serious car accident. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1945 to Dr. Milton Muldawer and Krenny (nee Kraftsow), she was the second of four children. Ann and her brothers Michael, Jeffery and sister Nancy grew up in Philadelphia with a large, tight-knit extended family full of cousins, aunts and uncles. In 1963 Ann graduated from Girls High followed by the University of Maryland. Later in life she earned her Masters in Library Science and usually found a way to weave numerous book recommendations into any given conversation.
She loved traveling and spent four years living and working in London in her 20s with her life-long best friend Barbara Kirby (nee Robbins). After returning home to Philadelphia, she met and married her first husband and had her beloved daughter Alison in 1978. From the first day that Ann held her until the very end, she was completely devoted to her and gave her unconditional love and support. She sacrificed so much to make sure Alison was able to pursue her interests, shuttling her to gymnastics and dance classes and sending her to summer camp. Ann opened up her home to her friends and Alison’s as a place to live when they were in crisis for as long as they needed. She remembered everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries and sent them cards and gifts, even when she didn’t have money to spare.
In the early 2000s Ann met Gilbert Schwartz and that was it! They had a beautiful life together and shared many great times with friends and family. They enjoyed socializing, eating out with friends, watching films and plays. They were married in 2016 and Gil was a devoted husband who did whatever he could to make life easier for Ann. After the car accident, he dropped everything to be by her side to care for her and make sure she was never alone.
Anyone who knew Ann would say that while she loved to read, her favorite activity was talking. She could talk to anyone anywhere, and quickly made new friends. At the end of her life she spent many months in and out of the hospital and no matter how bad she felt, she always made a point to reach out to friends and loved ones to check in and offer her support.
She was predeceased by her mother Krenny and father Milton. She is survived by her husband Gilbert Schwartz, daughter Alison (Bill) Fraser, brother Michael (Judy) Muldawer, brother Jeffrey (Terry) Muldawer and sister Nancy (Gary) Weissberg.
