ALVIN H. BARKAN  

On February 9, 2018, in Philadelphia, PA. He was born in Philadelphia on October 15, 1937. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan A. Barkan (died 2003). He embraced life fully, with curiosity, humor and energy. He loved people and lived outside convention, with no apologies. He will be remembered and missed by his many friends, family, colleagues, Lion brothers, Enterprise buddies, Uber passengers, Celestia choir members, and his children, Ari Barkan of Philadelphia and Jill Barkan of New York, and his son-in-law, Christopher Nelson; and his grandchildren, Jonas, Ethan and Zoe Nelson-Barkan of New York. Graveside services will be held Sunday, 10 a.m. precisely at Judean Memorial Gardens, Olney, MD.
