ALBERT BARENBAUM

June 26, 1938 — October 7, 2020

Dr. Albert Barenbaum passed away on October 7, 2020. He had the degree of Bachelor in Science (Cum Laude) conferred upon him August 23, 1971, the Degree of Master of Education conferred upon him August 31, 1973 and Doctor of Education conferred upon him May 26, 1977. On April 3, 1975 he was initiated into the Temple University of Phi Delta Kappa, "A professional fraternity in education, the chief purpose of which shall be to promote free public education as an essential to the develop and maintenance of a democracy through the continuing interpretation of the ideals of research, service, and leadership, and the translation of the ideals into a program of action appropriate to the needs of public education." He taught at Temple University and was elected to the position of President of the College of Education Alumni Association in 2012. In addition, Dr. Barenbaum taught in the School District of Philadelphia and was promoted to Supervisor of Education and made responsible for the John F. Kennedy Area Vocational Technical School. The school earned the highest evaluation from the State of Pennsylvania. He worked for the School District for 38 years and retired in 2003. He also owned and operated his own Insurance Agency and was honored by E. F. Hutton's president in San Diego, CA for outstanding performance. In addition he was a Behavior Specialist who worked with children who had difficulties. He is survived by his wife, Isabel "Penny" Barenbaum, his children Jon Barenbaum (Leanne), Evan Barenbaum (Allison), and Daniel Barenbaum, and his grandchildren Mclein, Samantha, and Jake. Graveside services will be held Monday 10:30 AM at Shalom Memorial Park, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
